Textual analysis of MixMag Front Cover

Mixmag is a music magazine that is focused on the genre of dance, it covers all the dfferent sub sections from dubstep to Psy-trance. I would say that it is aimed towards the target market of teenagers and young adults that are interested in the dance music scene and that are interested in going out to gigs and partys. I'd say the front cover of the magazine portrays this very well as the neon colour scheme that is used with the fonts and lines gives the dance/rave look along with the young persons attraction, and then theres one main picture which is of a familiar face who is taking he dance scene by storm. This is a good attraction as he is young, and people who are into this genre of music will want to read about his success. The page is dominated by the main graphic in the background which even covers up the masthead for the magaizne's name along the top of the page. The net big sight that occupies your attention is the headline running across the centre of the page, which relates to the image in te background.

Then above the masthead are a few cover lines which is stating a fact about the size and reputation of the magazine. There is then a strapline above the main heading with a comment relating ot both the main article and the image in the background. The edge of the page is then surrounded with cover lines which co-operate with the colour scheme of the rest of the page. There is a small graphic in the top right hand orner which is advertising a website which is a very big party of the dance event system. The picture is of a young lady having fun which will most likely attract people who enjoy going out and enjoying themselves at events. It's quite a busy front cover with alot of cover lines acting as a sort of border around the edge of the page. However it doesn't look messy and is held together well by the continuous colour scheme through the pages text. I do class myself as part of the target audience for this magazine and if i saw this issue on a shelf i would pick it up and would think about buying it.
