Textual analysis of Mixmag's contents page

The contents page carries on a colour scheme for the text which was used on the front cover of the issue, which is a neon yellow and white colour. The font that is used for the text is a very simple block font which works well as it is easy to understand. The design of the font for the title of the page and the page numbers for the graphics are in a much more modern style though and correspond with the genre well. The mian focus of this page is the big graphic which dominates the majority of the page. the graphic is of a young women who is out partying and enjoying herself. This image corresponds with the genre of the magaizne and represents what this magazine is about, going out, and partying to good dance music. The story which the graphic is advertising is all about last minute ideas for going out on new years eve, this would be a big story for the people who read this magazine as they might not have any final plans for their new year celebrations.

The second graphic that is featured on the page is one which again corresponds with the main article on the front of the issue's cover. This again is a picture which might attract the target audience for this magazine. Down the right hand side of the page are cover lines which feature a couple of the main sections of the magaizne, under each main headline of the section there is a small lure under each which would entice the reader to that story. Running along the bottom of the page is a small section on a free gift that came with the magazine, the gift was a cd which had some of the main songs and acts from the past year on it. This is a good idea as people who buy this magazine will be interested in the music that comes with the cd as the songs are all big tunes created by some of the genre's biggest producers.

I think that there is a house style for the contents page for mixmag as i have viewed another contents of a different mixmag issue and there is a similar layout around the page with things such as the title of the magazine, date of the issue, and the word 'contents' along the top of the page. The colour scheme also seems to reoccur a few times, i think this is a good thing because it really goes well with the genre and style of the magazine.

I think that the style and layout of this magazine works very well and reaches out to it's target audience very well.
